Results From Keddles Promotions'

"CHAMPIONSHIP MUAY THAI"
March 19th, 2011 - Essex, England

IKF Pro MTR (Modified)
Women's Bantamweight World Title

Alexis Rufus
(London, England, 18-2, 53kg, 5'4", 28-04-79 , Alan Keddle 00447940559731)
VS
Lorena Klijn
(Amsterdam, Netherland, 17-1, 54kg, 5'5", 20-09-87, Gergis 0615125869)

In a battle of stylists, two fighters with excellent records gave us a memorable contest. Lorena Klijn came in as slight favorite with an unbeaten 17-0 but Rufus never let her settle.

With a background in Kickboxing previously to moving into Muay Thai, Rufus had the better footwork which made it more difficult for the flat footed Klijn to connect cleanly.

Although the first two rounds could be argued as even (despite only one judged seeing it that way), Rufus began to pull away from the 3rd and at the final bell she inflicted Klijns first defeat and collected the IKF World Title.

WINNER
ALEXIS RUFUS BY UNANIMOUS DECISION
50-45, 50-45, 50-45

IKF Pro MTR (Modified)
Women's Lightweight World Title

Bernise Alldis
(Kent, England, 29-2, 60kg, 5'9", 08-12-87, Alan Keddle 00447940559731)
VS
Severine Guilpin
(Colombes, France, 37-17, 60kg, 5'6", 05-05-82, Sadouki Redha 0033 690 54 71 86)

Bernise Alldis captured the vacant IKF World Lightweight title with a polished performance against tough French challenger Severine Guilpin.

Both of these girls came looking for an early finish with the judges unable to split them in the first two rounds. Alldis showed a bigger variety with her punch combination work and by the 3rd she was also dominating in the clinch.

Severin began to look a little phased as Alldis stepped up a gear, showing excellent fitness and by the close of play there was only one winner. Bernis Alldis... The new IKF World Champion

WINNER: BERNISE ALLDIS BY UNANIMOUS DECISION
50-47, 50-45, 49-47

Thunder Valley Casino Welcomes
Big Kickboxing Show!

First LIVE Fight Show At The Casino

See The Thunder Valley Casino Event Commercial - Click HERE!

Thunder Valley Casino located in Lincoln, California, USA is one of the premier casinos in the state and will be the location of the next IKF Muay Thai Kickboxing Championship promoted by Rocklin's AK Promotions Company on Saturday, April 30th, 2011.

AK Promotions has been promoting several successful shows in the area over the past two years. Crowds have been packing ballrooms and other fight venues to watch one of the greatest contact sports in the world...Kickboxing! Johnny Davis, President of AK Promotions notes that "Its been a long time coming and finally getting a venue like Thunder Valley Casino to allow Kickboxing events is a sure advancement. We are constantly up against other contact sports and are looking forward showing off the talent of our kickboxing community. Our plans are to produce a dynamite show for all to see on April 30th. Some of the best fighters in the country will be on the card and those in the audience should get ready for a real treat!" says Davis.

Approximately 15 Fights will be on the card including IKF Welterweight Muay Thai Champion Daniel "Hitman" Hodges (L) of Rocklin, CA who will be defending his title against tough Josh San Diego of San Jose, CA. Other locals slated to fight are Rich Davis and Sean Cronin of Rocklin.

Additionally, IKF United States Champion Jon "The Hawk" Pryor (R) of Sacramento will be stepping up for an even bigger title than his current one. A call went out to find Pryor a valid Contender as an opponent and he has been found... Pryor will meet up against undefeated Armin Safiari (Below Left) of Dublin, California for the vacant IKF Muay Thai Super Welterweight "WORLD" Title.

Safiari has a perfect 8-0 record in Muay Thai along with a 7-2 amateur boxing and 2-0 MMA record. He should be the challenge Pryor is looking for. He participated in the 2010 IFMA World Championships in Thailand. However after defeating 3 straight opponents from Brazil, Korea and Belarus he was stopped short of his bid for the IFMA World Title after his 3rd win. Upon his post fight inspection by the tournament doctors, they would not allow him to advance due to a cut he suffered in the last bout. This ruling would be the same for any tournament, even the IKF World Classic. Along with his winning bouts in Thailand he has also fought on a StrikeForce event as an amateur MMA fighter. In August of 2010 in Los Angeles he won the WMC Thailand Cup.

Pryor on the other hand has conquered and defeated all but 1 title challenge he's been up against. the original plan was to have him re-match and hopefully avenge his loss to Skylr Penna. Pryor and Penna hooked up back on July 11th, 2009 in Redwood City, California, USA for the IKF North American Title. However, on this night, Penna was the better fighter as he defeated Pryor by unanimous decision, 49-46 on all 3 judges cards. However Penna was unable to make the date for the challenge so Safiari and his trainer took full advantage of the opportunity.

Since losing to Penna, Pryor has clearly earned the shot at the IKF World Title. He's defeated every other challenger in his division, so it only seems fitting that come April 30th, he will be in the hot seat for his ultimate IKF Title shot!

T.J. Arcangle of San Francisco, CA may have the toughest fight of his career against two time champion Roberto Morales of Elk Grove. Plus, 265lbs Manny Mancha (Below Right) of Fresno / Elk Grove CA will be battling 6'8" Xavier Vigney of Vallejo, CA for the IKF Super Heavyweight California Championship. At press time, newcomer Ed Abosolo of Vallejo will be taking on Aleksander Naumski of San Jose. If approved by the IKF, this bout will be for the vacant IKF Amateur Muay Thai California Light Middleweight title.

The $40 general and $50 Ringside tickets will be a great bargain for the action happening at
Thunder Valley April 30th!

AK Promotions plans to continue to bring exciting kickboxing fight-action to the area with another grand show planned for Friday, July 1st at the Doubletree Hotel in Sacramento to kick off the July 4th weekend. With the Las Vegas atmosphere complete with special lighting, great drinks and food with a taste of entertainment from the Inferno Dance Team out of Sacramento and not to mention great fights, one hopes that Thunder Valley Casino could become a permanent home for such events.

The show is in part sponsored by Norcal Beverage of Loomis, CA, distributors of Budweiser Beer and The Rocklin Kickboxing and Boxing Club.

More information on tickets etc. will be available at

FULL Results From Pete Foley's
"WORLDS COLLIDE"
March 12th, 2011 - Galway, Ireland

Foley's Event Was On Fire!
And Sadly, So Was Something Else...

While Pete Foley and his Team were busy with one of the Greatest Kickboxing events in Ireland's history, he was informed of some tragic news... His Gym was on fire...

Still, even with the announcement of the tragic news, it didn't take his focus away from finishing the task at hand... Completing a successful promotion and hoping to have some New IKF World Champions to add to his already impressive fighter stable.

There was plenty of commotion going on during and following the big fire that completely destroyed Pete Foley's (At Right with ring girls Jessica & Charlene from Grooveyard Entertainment ) Kickboxing Gym in the Riverside Commercial Park in Galway Ireland. Even though the Galway Black Dragon Kickboxing Gym was burned to the ground, the core element of the club, the people who made it great (and who will do so again), were involved in their biggest and most prestigious night of kickboxing at the Black Box Theatre.

The fire, which made press headlines in all the newspapers and on all the radio stations, TV channels etc. overshadowed the achievements of the Gladiators of the ring and kickboxing was, for a brief moment in time, and for all the wrong reasons, suddenly mainstream.

They say that bad news sells a lot better than good news and this was proven to be so as the photographs on the newspapers mostly showed the carnage and broken buildings that once housed the elite of Irish kickboxing. This article is an acknowledgment to the achievements of the fighters from Galway and all across the country as well as the overseas visitors from as far afield as England, Wales, France and the USA and indeed their coaches and clubmates who are the unsung heroes of the night.

The Black Box Theatre was alive with activity throughout the afternoon with fighters from near and far getting weighed in and prepared for their pre-fight medicals. Officials were preparing their sheets and documentation and the DJ and MC were rehearsing their roles and doing sound checks while the Black Box lighting engineers were busy setting up various colored lights for effect etc. as they were all keen to celebrate 15 years of Black Dragon Kickboxing in the city.

The queue outside was slowly forming and fight fans were excitedly talking about the upcoming battles. All were looking forward to getting in and selecting the best seats and perhaps stocking up at the bar. The security staff were busy controlling the front doors and getting ready to let them in. IKF President Steve Fossum from California, USA was among the officials as he watched IKF Representative Mrs. Jennifer Baranyai explain the rules to the fighters and coaches. The feeling of anticipation was evident among all the fighters who were anxious to get in and do their thing.

  1. AMATEUR FCR 57KG - 3 ROUNDS
Yvonne Mc Nevin VS Jo-Ann Conlon
Shortly after the rules meeting, the first fighters were called to the ring. Jo-Ann Conlon from Tralee and Yvonne Mc Nevin from Galway Black Dragon. Both fighters received a huge reception from the sporting audience and after instructions from Referee Mr Paul Cummins, the action got underway. From the bell both girls went at it and Conlon certainly hadn't come all the way from Tralee to make up the numbers as she came straight for Mc Nevin who stood her ground and the battle was on. Mc Nevin seemed the stronger however and forced a standing 8 count on the game Tralee lass in the first round and again in round two. The writing was on the wall for Conlon who was taking too much punishment and the referee called it off at 1.50 of the second round giving Yvonne the victory by TKO.
WINNER: Yvonne Mc Nevin by TKO at 1:50 of round 2.

  2. AMATEUR IR 64KG - 3 ROUNDS
Chris McCrudden VS Martin Murray .
Galways Martin Murray was next in and he took on tough Donegal fighter Chris Mc Crudden. Mc Crudden seemed too strong for Murray and took a well deserved points victory but Murray in true sporting fashion took it on the chin and vowed to come back stronger.
WINNER: Martin Murray by unanimous decision, 30-27, 30-26 & 30-27.

  3. AMATEUR FCR 63KG - 3 ROUNDS
    Valerie Hamilton VS Mags Walsh
Valerie Hamilton from the Galway camp took on Dragons Lair fighter Mags Walsh from Kilkenny in the third bout and scored a unanimous points victory over the Noresider in an entertaining contest between two upcoming young ladies.
WINNER: Valerie Hamilton by unanimous decision, 30-27, 30-27 & 30-28

  4. JUNIOR AMATEUR FCR 54KG - 4 ROUNDS
    Eddie Barnaville VS Levi Lawerence
This bout was much closer than the scores indicated and was quite possibly the fight of the night! The ever popular Thurles fighter Eddie Barnaville from Pat John Mc Cools camp took on Welsh wizard Levi Lawerence next. This was an International four round contest between two of Europes top junior fighters with Barnaville taking a unanimous decision.
WINNER: Eddie Barnaville by unanimous decision, 40-37, 40-37 & 40-38.

  5. AMATEUR FCR 67KG - 3 ROUNDS
    Karen Coffey VS Donna Doherty
Karen Coffey from Galway took on Donna Doherty from Ennis next in an exciting contest between two very determined young ladies. In the end the judges couldn't split them and the result was a very fair draw.
    DECISION: Majority draw, 29-29, 29-29 & 29-28.

  6. AMATEUR FCR 70KG - 3 ROUNDS
    Gary Giles VS Henry Tobann
Gary Giles from the Galway camp was next to the ring and he faced Henry Tobann from Tommy Delaneys gym in Laois. Giles has never been in a dull contest and this was no exception as both men gave 100% effort with Tobann showing good solid boxing skills and Giles moving in and out of range with some well placed kicks. Gary got the nod on this occasion with a unanimous decision but Tobann, who seemed to really enjoy the fight, will no doubt be back with a bang.
WINNER: Gary Giles by unanimous decision, 30-28, 30-28 & 29-28.

  7. IKF Amateur FCR International 5 Nations Title
    58KG - 5 ROUNDS

    Catherine Cullinan VS Zoe Land
The next contest was an IKF Amateur International 5 Nations Title fight between two very talented young ladies with similar records and both National champions of their respective countries. Catherine Cullinan from Galway who won the IKF All Ireland Title on May 15, 2010 and made a successful defence in October of the same year took on IKF English Champion Zoe Land who also won her title in May 2010 and successfully defended it in October 2010. On paper, this was a perfect match and it proved similar in the square ring as both girls gave it their all and the fight went the full championship distance with Claregalway woman Catherine taking a split decision and with it the IKF 5 Nations Featherweight Title.
WINNER: Catherine Cullinan by split decision, 49-48, 49-47 & 47-49.

  8. AMATEUR FCR 69KG - 3 ROUNDS
    Bryan Merrigan VS Stephen Dent
Next to the ring was tough nut Bryan Merrigan from Oughterard, Co. Galway and he squared off with Dublins Stephen Dent. Both men had huge support which was very evident due to the noise of the fired up fight fans. This fight started fast and furious with both of them looking for big shots. However Merrigan settled down after the first and coasted his way to a unanimous decision. Merrigan is fast making a name for himself in the Super Welterweight division and is knocking on the door to a title shot. Dent is improving with every fight and is soaking up the experience and will be a fighter to watch in the future.
WINNER: Bryan Merrigan by unanimous decision, 29-28, 29-27 & 29-27.

  9. IKF Amateur All Ireland FCR Welterweight Title
    67KG - 5 ROUNDS

    Darryl Orr VS Alex Novac
Alex Novac made the 2nd defence of his IKF Amateur All Ireland Welterweight title next to Donegal man Darryl Orr. This too went the championship distance with Orr taking the win and the title back to Donegal. It was a case of the banger versus the technician as Novac tested Orrs chin with some well placed front kicks and big hooks which saw Orrs head rock back several times. However Darryl proved he came from good stock as he rode the storm well and chipped away at Novac using his superior reach to good effect and earned a split decision. With a possible rematch on the cards sometime down the line, this fight could be a good main event on any promotion but in the meantime it was an even sweeter victory for Darryl as it was the Donegal clubs first Title and his couches Joe and Amy Wilson were over the moon.
WINNER: Darryl Orr by split decision, 49-48, 49-48 & 47-49.

  10. IKF Junior Amateur FCR 5 Nations Light Welterweight Title
    64.5KG - 5 ROUNDS

Charlie Ward VS Glenn Mc Farlane
The next fighter to the ring was a young man who has it all... Charlie Ward. Good boxing and kicking skills, heart, fitness and youth and he is the current IKF Junior All Ireland Light Welterweight Champion - a title which he won last May and defended it successfully in Kilkenny last October. His opponent Glenn Mc Farlane came from the well known Bodyshots gym in Belfast and he was last years WKA World Silver Medalist. This contest was for the vacant IKF Junior 5 Nations Light Welterweight title. After instructions from referee Paul Cummins both fighters went at it hammer & tong. Charlie always looked in control and landed some solid kicks followed by some very technical boxing which resulted in Mc Farlane getting a standing count.
Round two saw Charlie up the pace and once again he had the Belfast fighter in trouble and another count was issued. Although Mc Farlane fought on, it was always going to be an uphill struggle as Ward piled on the pressure landing some text book uppercuts and body shots until the referee called it off just before the end of the round giving Charlie the win by TKO and the IKF 5 Nations Belt.
WINNER; Charlie Ward by TKO at the end of round 2.

  11. IKF Amateur FCR European Super Lightweight Title
    62.5KG - 5 ROUNDS

    Eric Daly VS Howard Hogg
The next fight was for the vacant IKF Amateur European Super Lightweight Title. Galways All Ireland and 5 Nations champion Eric Daly who hails from Gort took on current IKF British champion Howard Hogg from Cardiff in Wales. Hogg got a warm welcome from the sporting Irish fight fans but when Daly entered the ring it was nothing short of deafening. After instructions from the referee both men went to war and maintained a blistering pace throughout the entire five rounds after which one judge went for Daly, one for Hogg and another was undecided which resulted in a majority draw. It has to be said that these two young men came to the ring in incredible condition and they both showcased their sport at the highest possible level. It now looks as though it will have to happen all over again - there should be no problem selling tickets for the rematch.
RESULT: Eric Daly AND Howard Hogg fought to a split decision draw, 49-48 Daly, 49-48 Hogg and 48-48.

  12. IKF AMATEUR INTERNATIONAL RULES
    CRUISERWEIGHT WORLD TITLE - 88KG - 5 ROUNDS

    Aidan Brooks VS Miletic Nenad

The next bout was to be for the vacant IKF International Rules World Cruiserweight Title between Aidan Brooks from Dublin and Miletic Nenad from Serbia but now residing in France. However promoter Mr Pete Foley received a telephone call from Nenads camp on Friday as they were about to board the aircraft informing him that Nenad was unable to get through security as he didn't have the required visa to enter Ireland. The French tried everything in their power to get an emergency visa but to no avail and the fight was suddenly off. IKF President Steve Fossum got into the ring to explain to the disappointed fight fans what had happened and awarded Brooks the title by default - a title which Brooks had trained so hard for and was so looking forward to winning by his efforts in the ring instead of the manner in which it came.
This is sport and sometimes in sport, things happen outside of anyones control but it is indeed a bitter pill for any fighter to have to swallow.

  13. IKF AMATEUR FULL CONTACT RULES
    WOMEN'S BANTAMWEIGHT WORLD TITLE *DEFENSE - 55.5KG - 5 ROUNDS

    *Nicola Collins
(Galway, Ireland, 14-6-3/6) VS Alicia Mermoux (France 10-1).
Nikki "The Killer" Collins was next to the square ring for her mandatory first defence of her IKF Amateur World Bantamweight title against Alicia Mermoux from France. Mermoux entered the ring undefeated, (10-0) and a two time ISKA World Champion at a different weight. This being said, Collins had it all to do to keep her crown intact.
The first round got underway and true to form Collins started slow. Mermoux backed her up with some nice side kicks, one of which knocked Collins to the canvas helping Mermoux win round 1.
In round two Collins took the French Lass down with her trademark footsweeps on two occasions and seemed to unsettle her. After that, although not an explosive bout, Collins maintained the edge enough to keep Mermoux on the losing end of the majority of the rounds as she cruised her way to a comfortable points victory. This was an impressive win for Nikki as her opponent was one of those typically classy European fighters who was taller, a southpaw and she had to really figure out how to break down her defence. However experience told in the end and Nikk "The Killer" Collins retained her IKF World Bantamweight Title by unanimous decision.
WINNER: Nicola Collins by unanimous decision, 49-46, 48-47 & 49-48.

  14. IKF AMATEUR FULL CONTACT RULES
LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT WORLD TITLE: 81.5KG - 5 ROUNDS

    Cathal Manning
(Galway, Ireland, 23-7-2/6, IKF European Champion) VS Joseph Corneroli (South Carolina, USA, 10-3/5, AMMA: 9-2, 2 X IKF World Classic Champion)
The last fight of the night was a battle for the vacant IKF Amateur World Light Heavyweight Title between current European champion Cathal "Mean Machine" Manning and two time IKF World Classic Tournament champion Joseph "Crush" Corneroli from South Carolina, USA. By now the crowd were at fever pitch and the atmosphere and anticipation could almost be tasted. Referee Paul Cummins called the two fighters to the centre of the ring for final instructions and at the bell all hell broke loose and both men were on a mission to destroy.
Manning used his reach well but Corneroli was always dangerous with those big swinging hooks. This fight went the full championship distance with a short pause for the doctor to check Cornerolis left eye after Manning opened a cut with a glazing roundhouse kick much to the satisfaction of the cheering fight fans. As the blood was not flowing into Cornerolis eye, the ringside doctor allowed him to fight on. He made one last ditch effort to take Manning out but Manning was in charge now and landed some big punches to Cornerolis head and body. The bell sounded to end the contest and the referee collected the scorecards and then came the moment when yet another young man from the West Of Ireland was crowned Champion of the World by unanimous decision. The Mean Machine had done it and the roof almost came off the Black Box such was the roar from fight fans.
WINNER: Cathal Manning by unanimous decision, 50-45, 50-45 & 50-46.

Promoter Pete Foley would just like to add that some of these athletes train twice a day for these big events in a manner that would match most professional fighters in other combat sports. However they don't get near the recognition they deserve. The big TV deals go to boxing promotions in some countries, MMA in others and the newspapers are full of pictures and reports before and after these events regardless of the outcome. Sadly, when a Kickboxing club from the West of Ireland try to pull out all the stops and bring in elite and top ranked fighters from all across the globe and actually win genuine World Titles they are overshadowed in all the press by a fire that destroyed the very building where they trained to become the best in their field of sport.

Huge thanks goes out to all the behind the scenes people who made the show such a success including the set up crew, Dr Maura Grummell, Order Of Malta, Judges, Referee, fighters, coaches, DJ, MC, Security Staff, Ring Girls, IKF, Glove Runners, Corner staff, management & staff of the Black Box, all the sponsors which included: Safety Direct, Fightingfit.ie, Sally Longs bar, Minihanes of Gort (Supervalu), Headmasters Barbers, Munroes Tavern, Unique Personal Training, Galway Trade Windows, Boston Scientific, Fat Tonys Barbers, Electronic Concepts, Ballybrit Tyre & Exaust Centre, Top Drawer Max, All Class kitchens, Waste water Management Ltd, Clare Haulage Ltd, Richie Darcy from Dicey Reillys in Gort, Sword Security, Wards Hotel, Mocks .ie and Alan Mullholland bookmakers.

Kieran Keddle became the newest IKF "PRO" World Champion after a classic match up with the very tough Charles Francois from France pushing him all the way. The edge in power though seemed to be with the English fighter and he took the points from two of the three judges to take the vacant IKF title. Both fighters were World Class and worthy challengers for the title! The closeness of the score cards showing the quality of the match up. The French team, obviously disappointed took the verdict with great sportsmanship and would be welcome again I'm sure.

Josh San Diego of Milpitas, CA
Wins IKF California Title!

Johnny Davis's AK Promotions, fresh off a successful show in Sacramento in January, brought Muay Thai action to Coach's Sports Bar in Rocklin Friday night. The smaller venue was filled with racous fans as a host of fighters sought to prove their mastery of the art of the eight limbs. Three two minute rounds with headgear for most fights, with five rounds and no such protection in the championship match. Ring card duties and halftime dance routine ably handled by the Sacramento Heatwave dancers.

    Referee: Dan Stell
  3. IKF AMATEUR MUAY THAI: 132.1-137

  4. IKF AMATEUR MUAY THAI: 142.1-147
John Cabrido, Milpitas, 1-0, 146, 5'8", Rudi Ott
defeated Joel Douglas, Chico, 0-1, 146, 5'8", B. Clements, by TKO at 1:49 of round 1.
QS Report: John Cabrido got the better of Joel Douglas with hard punches, forcing a TKO stoppage in the first round.
    Referee: Dan Stell
  5. IKF AMATEUR MUAY THAI: 153.1-159
    Sean Cronin, Rocklin, 2-1, 157.4, 5'11", R. Davis,
defeated Robert Alvarado, Patterson, 0-2, 157.4, 6'2", M. Hermia, by unanimous decision, 29-28 on all 3 judges cards.
QS Report: Rocklin's own Sean Cronin battled Robert Alvarado at the 159 pound limit. Powered by the friendly crowd, Cronin clearly dominated the first round. Cronin seemed to tire in the second round, but still pressed the action. Alvarado came on strong in the third round, but couldn't make up the deficit from the first two rounds. Cronin came out on top, 29-28 on all three judge's scorecards, and improved his record to 2-1.
    Referee: Ray Balewicz

  6. IKF AMATEUR MUAY THAI: 195.1-215
    Anthony Hernandez, Woodland, 0-0-1, 210, 6', D.Morrissey,
and Frank Tapia, Fresno, 0-1-1, 215, J. Contre, fought to a split decision draw. (IKF Awaiting scores from Source)
QS Report: Anthony Hernandez met Frank Tapia in a battle of the heavyweights in a classic brawl. Big sloppy punches and kicks from both men. Lots of power and not much grace. The fight ended up a majority draw, so nobody went away happy.
    Referee: Dan Stell

  7. IKF AMATEUR MUAY THAI: 132.1-137
Powell Knogkham, Sacramento, 1-0, 134.4, 5'8", MT Lao
    VS Nemo Vier, Fairfield, 0-1, 133.2, 5'6", BBDC, by "Majority" decision, 27-26, 28-26, 27-27.
QS Report: Nice contrast of styles between Powell Knogkham and Nemo Vier. Vier pressed the action, while Knogkham hung back and counter-struck. The difference was Knogkham's well-timed leg kicks, which repeatedly caught Vier moving forward and unbalanced Vier and even knocked him down. Knogkham wins in a split decision.
    Referee: Ray Balewicz

  8. IKF AMATEUR MUAY THAI: 153.1-159
    Bear Baily, Sacramento, 1-0, 158, 5'11", C. Robinson,
    defeated Tai Ly, San Francisco, 0-1, 158, 5'9", Kru Sam, by split decision, 29-28, 29-28 & 28-29.
QS Report: Both fighters were very game and aggressive in the match between Tai Ly and Bear Baily, with the difference coming from Baily's crisp, technically superior striking. Bear wins it all three judges cards.
    Referee: Dan Stell

  9. IKF AMATEUR MUAY THAI: 147.1-153
    Jeremy Jacildo, Vallejo, 1-0, 152.4, 5'8", T. Howard,
    VS Izzy Morales, Ceres, 1-1, 152.4, 5'10", Mike Duran, by split decision, 29-28, 29-28 & 27-30.
QS Report: The best action of the night was found in the scrap at the 153 pound limit between Jeremy Jacildo and Izzy Morales. Both fights were relentless in pressing the action. Jacildo came out ahead with judges and a unanimous decision.
    Referee: Ray Balewicz

  10. VACANT IKF AMATEUR MODIFIED MUAY THAI RULES
    CALIFORNIA WELTERWEIGHT TITLE

Josh San Diego, Milpitas, California, USA, 3-0, Rudi/Unlimited,
defeated Anthony Acosta, San. Leandro, 5-2, 5'10", Ramos, by unanimous decision, 50-45, 50-45 & 49-46.
QS Report: In the main event of the night 5-2 Anthoy Acosta of San Leandro took on 3-0 Josh San Diego of Milpitas, for the vacant IKF California Welterweight title. San Diego, who took this fight as a late replacement, looked very poised in the first three rounds, scoring with his left hand and 1-2 combos. The fight was close, but San Diego was clearly landing more clean shots and by the time the fight reached the championship 4th and 5th rounds, Acosta was showing damage, including welts on his face. In the latter rounds Acosta, sensing that he was behind on the scorecard, began looking for the high head kick in an effort to win the match in one strike. But San Diego kept his guard up and stayed elusive, and Acosta couldn't find the home run shot he was looking for. After five rounds, Josh San Diego is your new champion.

VACANT IKF PRO FCR
EUROPEAN WELTERWEIGHT TITLE

Sukhy Saroya (Stevenage, England, 20-6-4-1nc, 66.7kg, 5'7", 5-22-83, Trevor Spencer, 004479407175717)
VS Kamel Boutekrapt ( Temple, France, P/A: 59-8, 66.1kg, 5'10", 8-29-91, Holmose, 0623546468)

Following the withdrawal of original opponent Scott Rowley through injury, French fighter Kamel Boutekrapt was offered the opportunity to contest the European Title against England's Sukhy Saroya.

Boutekrapt's overall fight record was 59-7, and we soon saw the lightening skills he possessed. Making a fast start he looked to take the first couple of rounds as Saroya settled into the contest. At times Saroya looked confused but as anyone who has seen him before will testify, Sukhy wakes up just before mid-way and gets stronger form then on. This night was to be no exception. Mid-way through the 3rd he found Boutekrapt's weak spot on the right side of the body and from there he set every combination up around it. The Frenchman slowed from "amazing" to just "very good" and by round 7 Saroya looked as though he may even get the stoppage.

The distance was a clear issue for Boutekrapt having rarely fought over 5 rounds and Saroya took full advantage. Although at times the Englishman would be stunned by combinations, Boutekrapt was unable to sustain the pace. The final round was a toe to toe affair. Boutekrapt looking for the stoppage and Saroya opting to stand and trade, because he likes too. The final result was a unanimous one.

WINNER: Sukhy Saroya by Unanimous Decision: 100-91, 98-91, 98-93.

As Kickboxing continues to rise in popularity, AK Promotions based out of Rocklin continues to give opportunity to fighters to show their skills in front of packed houses of screaming fans! Johnny Davis President AK Promotions just completed a sellout show in Sacramento at the Doubletree Hotel in January and is pleased with the progression of the sport over the past few years. Next month, March 11th, 2011 the winds will blow in yet another opportunity for fight fans to witness the fury of when feet and fists are the weapons of choice.

Coach's Sports Bar is nestled on the outskirts of Rocklin, California located at 5681 Lonetree Blvd. in a relatively young community filled with soccer, baseball and football as primary sports. However, when IKF kickboxing hits town, one bets the club will sell out fast as the town's male population are also big fans of contact sports and the already huge following for AK Promotions' events.

Approximately 13 fights are currently matched for the card. One fighter from Rocklin is also scheduled to fight as well as The Inferno Dancers of Sacramento will perform on the show. Sean Cronin who trains at the Rocklin Kickboxing and Boxing Club and fights at the 159lbs weight limit, will be fighting his third fight. Cronin who has very strong kicks and punches is hoping for a big win in front of his home town crowd.

IKF West Coast Champion and Rocklin resident Daniel "Hitman" Hodges will not be on the card as he is preparing for a bigger show set for Thunder Valley Casino in Lincoln, California on April 30th, 2011. On March 11th the main event was originally planned to be an exciting rematch title fight for the IKF West Coast Welterweight Muay Thai Championship between Robert Morales of Elk Grove, California and Anthony Acosta of San Leandro, California, USA. However due to illness Morales pulled out of the fight just this past Wednesday. Stepping in will be up and coming contender Josh San Diego who is undefeated and trained by former IKF Champion Rudi Ott of Milpitas, CA. San Diego (Below Right) who is excited about the opportunity for an IKF California title shot will be taking on the always tough Anthony Acosta (Below Left) of San Leandro, California.

MORE FIGHT NEWS...

Jason Reeves
Disappoints AGAIN!

This Time He Grounds THE JET!

Jason Reeves (L) signing his contract to fight
Stephen "Wonderboy" Thompson
back in 2004.

Some here may remember the major disappointment Jason Reeves of Aberdeen, Mississippi, USA brought to the kickboxing ring with his pathetic performance against Stephen "Wonderboy" Thompson back on November 6th, 2004. Thompson knocked Reeves out only 1 minute into round 1 with a right hand. Well, we say Knockout because he didn't get up, but in reality, it was more like a "Fall Down"...

Well, Reeves has resurfaced again, and disappointed "Again" but this time as a Promoter. Back in June of 2010, Reeves contacted Kickboxing Legend Rick "The Jet" Roufus about fighting in Mississippi. He informed Roufus that he was planning the event for November 12th in Tupelo, Mississippi. About a month or more prior to the event, Roufus got a call from Reeves and Reeves explained the Roufus that he was not going to be able to get his promoters license before his November scheduled event. Reeves claimed that someone from the commission lied to him, however, it was later discovered that he hadn't even applied for his license.

Roufus found out and accepted the scenario Reeves told him and was ready to move on. He didn't want to lose out on all the training and preparation he had put in for the promised fight on Reeves proposed event so Roufus got in touch with Oklahoma promoter and former kickboxing legend himself, Dale Cook.

Cook was promoting a fight the same day in Tulsa, Oklahoma and he and Cook discussed him fighting Jeff Ford. However, as time got closer, for whatever reasons, Ford drops out of the picture and the fight is lost.

Hours, days and weeks of training lost, not to mention the promises of money, "The Jet" was left on the runway looking for a new destination to fire away. To his surprise, in late November, Jason Reeves enters his plans again. Reeves claims he is going to do his show in April or May and he wants to confirm Roufus will fight current IKF East Coast Champion, Kelly Leo of Oakwood, Georgia, USA, (33-10-1/18). Reeves was so sure of the match-up, he went and posted it on his facebook page.

Reeves wanted Leo to go to former IKF World Muay Thai Champion, Khunpon's event in Atlanta and start promoting the fight without a signed contract from Roufus or Leo. Reeves promised over and over to Roufus that he was going to be paid 20% of his purse up front due to the fact of the last event being moved. Roufus gave him until the end of January to make good on his promised word. All this time, Roufus was losing his patiences with reeves because Reeves often seemed unsure of his own promises he kept making.

As January was approaching Reeves tells Roufus he couldn't do 20% now and said he could only do 10%. Obviously Roufus was not pleased. Yet another broken promise by Reeves. Roufus expressed his anger and disappointment to Reeves over the phone, and from the conversation, Reeves uses Roufus' attitude as yet another excuse, this time telling Roufus he was upset with his discussion with him so he is now taking him off his event...

Looking back on it now, chances are great that Reeves had no intention of sending Roufus and deposit. So here was Rick Roufus, a legend in Kickboxing, putting his trust in a promoter who gave him his word. His word he would "Do the right thing!" In the end, Reeves turned out to be the "SAME" Jason Reeves he was when he "Fell Down" against Thompson after only 1 minute in the ring, begging for a rematch, to redeem himself he said. However this was a redemption opportunity no one thought he deserved. He had his chance, a great opportunity put before him, and he just fell down, hoping for his payday.

Rick "The Jet" Roufus

Hopefully he won't try and redeem himself against Roufus. Roufus made it clear he want's no part of him! Of all people to get angry at you Jason... you pick Rick Roufus? As if the "Wonderboy" lesson didn't teach you enough, you keep reaching for the stars.

So why this article?
Roufus contacted us and wanted to make sure other fighters don't get caught up in the promises, hopes and dreams of promoters like Jason Reeves. We agreed with him, so we made sure you read about this here on the IKF news page. Promoters like Reeves who come on strong with big glorious ideas that will "Shock the world" and in the end, they fizzle out. How many more chances will people give a promoter like Jason Reeves? He no longer fights, so no one believes in him enough to put him on a fight card. So now he want's to hurt other peoples fighting careers?

Jason, you may want to pick up your phone and offer a sincere apology to Roufus... On second thought, he's probably not taking your calls any more, so maybe just a card.

KICKBOXERS GIVE IT ALL FOR CHARITY

TKO Promotions would like to express their thanks to everyone who supported this very special event held in support of the Lou Street Trust to help the family of Louise Street who unfortunately has been diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease. All the officials of the IKF donated their services free of charge and special thanks must go to Mr Ross Barrett from Ireland who paid for the expenses of his team to attend. The fight that was scheduled to feature Irish fighter Dillon O'Connor was unfortunately lost through injury and therefore the cost of travel that Ross had personally paid for was also lost, so the promoters would like to place on record their appreciation for this fantastic gesture in support of the appeal and their generosity won't be forgotten.

On Saturday February 26th 2011, Mr Karl Egington of Enigma Kickboxing, Claremorris, Co. Mayo, Ireland held his first kickboxing promotion under the sanction of the International Kickboxing Federation. The Dalton Hotel was to be the intimate venue where fight fans would witness some excellently matched bouts with the finale being an IKF Irish Light Middleweight Title fight between the highly rated Michael Sweeney (Enigma) and the experienced and durable Kayne Nelson (Dragonslair, Kilkenny).

Both fighters wasted no time getting down to business, exchanging strong blows throughout the first round. Sweeney put his extensive boxing experience to good use while Nelson ducked, weaved and returned well timed kicks.

The second round started off in the same manner, however, the power in Sweeney's punches began to tell near the end of the round with Nelson going down for a count. Nelson was not ready to give up yet and fought his way back into the round.

Round three began and Sweeney could smell victory, abandoning his kicks for some devastating combinations of punches to the body and head. At the conclusion of the third round, the referee decided that Kayne Nelson had absorbed enough punishment and called an end to the bout, raising Michael Sweeney's arm in victory, the new IKF AM FCR All Ireland Light Middleweight Champion.

Following the bout, ringside physician, Dr. Maura Grummell, with the agreement of event representative Joe Wilson, recommended a medical suspension from all contact sports for Kayne Nelson for a period of 45 days.
