Join Us in Las Vegas, Nevada, December 9th & 10th, 2016! Rio Casino!

Join us in beautiful Las Vegas for our inaugural IKF/Point Muay Thai and Kickboxing World Cup Sparring Tournament. This event will indeed help you mold you as a fighter and help you become a future champion in the world of Kickboxing! Having a win at this event on your resume can only impress those that may be interested in you down the road! Register Today!

Additionally, this event may set the stage for future IKF Full Contact Kickboxing Events in Las Vegas as we continue our search for the most talented and skilled Kickboxers! Calling all Muay Thai / Kickboxing Clubs from around the World!

Since the very first IKF/Point Kickboxing Event in 2002 at the Evergreen College in San Jose, CA, we have had thousands of participants 'cut their teeth' in this exciting semi contact incubator event! Several fighters who started in our tournaments have gone on to have nice careers and some have fought in huge promotions like Glory, Bellator, Lion Fight and other top-notch promotions around the country!

Today, we continue to have IKF/Point Kickboxing Sparring Tournaments across the United States and abroad and although some events are not under the IKF/PKB banner, they have been inspired by our events! Also, on any given weekend… Karate tournaments are being held around the world with great turnouts and some titled "World Championships" is fuel for why it's time for the IKF/PKB World Championship to birth after 14 years of great events!

Therefore, we are proud to announce our very first semi contact IKF/Point Muay Thai / Kickboxing World Cup Championship in none other than the fight capital of the World…the City that Never Sleeps…Las Vegas, Nevada at the beautiful Rio Casino!

The concept of the IKF/PKB World Championship will be the same as our other PKB events…there are no knockouts allowed in the tournament! However, the true art of the PKB is…'CAN YOU OUT SKILL' YOUR OPPONENT AND LAND THE MOST SHOTS IN CONTINOUS NON-STOP ACTION!

Having Good Techniques is and will always be vital to those in the fight game! If you can perfect your techniques and then add the speed and power …you will become a dangerous force in the ring!

For the IKF/PKB World Championships, fights will take place on a matted floor! Full Gear is required! Adults wear 16oz Gloves and Juniors 10 to 12 oz. depending on their size etc. and again, No Knockouts are allowed.

Gloves Provided by Blackout Fight Gear.
www.BlackOutFights.com

There will be three rules styles to sign up under, Modified Muay Thai, Unified Rules and International Rules / Novice and Open Divisions for the more experienced fighters will be available! Divisions for men, women and Juniors 5 years old and up will be competing to bring home the beautiful Gold World Championship Cups in Open Divisions and very 'nicer than normal' trophies for the Novice Division! All contenders will leave with beautiful medals with the PKB Logo on them!

Win your Division and Bam!…You will become an IKF/Point Kickboxing World Cup. However, it will not be an easy task! With over 2 more months to plan, we are hopeful that fighters from around the world will participant in this inaugural IKF/Point Kickboxing World Cup! Heck, Your whole team can compete in this event!

Registration is now only $55 until November 7th and go up as the event nears! Registration is now open CLICK HERE. There is no mandatory hotel stay. Plus, no special exams needed for anyone even those over 40 years of age who can compete in Senior Division! The earlier you register the better the chances of others entering in your division…so do not procrastinate any longer!

So, here is your chance to become a World Champion of Muay Thai / Kickboxing Techniques! How Good Are You Really? Do you only depend on power? These are questions that can be answered on December 10th in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Do not be fooled…this is not a pity-pat competition! You will get hit! You will get bruised and maybe a little more!

As anyone who has tried the IKF/PKB knows... with a possibility of 8 fighters in each division, you will have to be in great shape! Remember again, there are no knockouts…so you should expect to fight every round barring your opponent cannot continue mostly due to conditioning issues etc.

The IKF/PKB World Championship Tournament will be in conjunction with the World Sports Expo produced by Mr. Sam Butler who host fitness events across the United States in some of the most prominent venues. This is not the first event we have combined our efforts. A few years back, we did an event at the World Congress Center in Atlanta, Georgia that was an overall success! Events like arm wrestling, Weight lifting, Bodybuilding, Powerlifting, JiuJitsu and so many art-forms are meshed into a spectacular weekend!

Get Excited Kickboxing Enthusiast! Whether Novice or Seasoned, you will have a chance to compete in this event and win a title of a lifetime - IKF/Point Muay Thai and Kickboxing World Champion! Sounds good to the ears! More information coming soon! Feel free to contact me directly if you have questions, Johnny Davis, President of IKF/Point Muay Thai and Kickboxing Sparring Tournaments at (843) 773-1005.

California State Athletic Commission
Enacts New Concussion Law For Fighters Under 18
ALL Coaches / Trainers Will Be Required To Pass The CDC Online Concussion Course In 2017!

A recently passed California state law mandates that anyone under the age of 18 participating in a school-based sports or youth sports organization program who suffers a concussion or head injury must be removed from further activity and receive medical clearance from a doctor. The new law, Assembly Bill 2007, requires that anyone under 18 who suffers a head injury must take at least seven days to be slowly phased back into activity rather than immediate clearance. The law applies to anyone participating in baseball, basketball, motocross, boxing, cheerleading, diving, football, martial arts, gymnastics, hockey, rodeo, skateboarding, softball, soccer, swimming, and amateur wrestling. The California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) has also adopted this new law as well.

Coaches and trainers involved in youth programs will also be required to undergo educational training on concussions before being allowed to supervise athletic activities.

As of January 1st, 2017, this will be MANDATORY in California for all under 18 athletes. Sports programs (Sanctioning Bodies, Leagues, etc) will also be required to create concussion & head injury information sheets that athletes and their guardians must sign before being allowed to participate in activities.
The CSAC has informed all delegated entities that they will be required to follow the requirements of AB2007 as well (IKF Kickboxing / Muay Thai, USA Boxing, USFL Pankration & CAMO MMA) Here is the link to where Coaches and Trainers will need to go to get approved as a Junior Cornerman and/or Trainer, Click HERE. This takes approximately 40 minutes to complete and once completed Cornerman and/or Trainer are asked to save their certificate and e-mail to the IKF (Or any other sports organization they are coaching) to be approved as a Cornerman or Trainer. This will become mandatory for other organizations so save certificate.

Assembly Bill 2007

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Article 2.5 (commencing with Section 124235) is added to Chapter 4 of Part 2 of Division 106 of the Health and Safety Code, to read:
Article 2.5. Youth Sports Concussion Protocols
124235. (a) A youth sports organization that elects to offer an athletic program shall comply with all of the following:

  1. (1) An athlete who is suspected of sustaining a concussion or other head injury in an athletic activity shall be immediately removed from the athletic activity for the remainder of the day, and shall not be permitted to return to any athletic activity until he or she is evaluated by a licensed health care provider. The athlete shall not be permitted to return to athletic activity until he or she receives written clearance to return to athletic activity from a licensed health care provider. If the licensed health care provider determines that the athlete sustained a concussion or other head injury, the athlete shall also complete a graduated return-to-play protocol of no less than seven days in duration under the supervision of a licensed health care provider.

  2. (2) If an athlete who is 17 years of age or younger has been removed from athletic activity due to a suspected concussion, the youth sports organization shall notify a parent or guardian of that athlete of the time and date of the injury, the symptoms observed, and any treatment provided to that athlete for the injury.

  3. (3) On a yearly basis, the youth sports organization shall give a concussion and head injury information sheet to each athlete. The information sheet shall be signed and returned by the athlete and, if the athlete is 17 years of age or younger, shall also be signed by the athlete's parent or guardian, before the athlete initiates practice or competition. The information sheet may be sent and returned through an electronic medium including, but not necessarily limited to, fax or electronic mail.

  4. (4) On a yearly basis, the youth sports organization shall offer concussion and head injury education, or related educational materials, or both, to each coach and administrator of the youth sports organization.

  5. (5) Each coach and administrator shall be required to successfully complete the concussion and head injury education offered pursuant to paragraph (4) at least once, either online or in person, before supervising an athlete in an activity of the youth sports organization.

Colin Payne Steps Down

In His Own Words, On His Own Terms...

SEE FACEBOOK TO COMMENT - CLICK HERE

From Colin Payne: Once again it seems Facebook is the easiest and quickest way to get any news out there and so wishing to make people in the game aware of a couple of things I'm putting it on here and tagging more than a few people in the sport so they can be made aware of it. With the sport sometimes being rife with gossip and untruths I want to make sure people are clear as to why I have taken the decision I have.

For over 10 years I have been co-director for Europe for the IKF a role I shared with my good mate Carl Sams. From the end of this month I will be resigning from this position however I would like to make it perfectly clear that this is a purely personal decision and is not in anyway due to any fall out, disagreement or otherwise.

My relationship with Carl, my good friend Pete Foley in Ireland and IKF President Steve Fossum is the same as it has always been and each of these people have given me their full support and backing with the step I have taken and have been nothing but supportive.

For the best part of 20 years I have worked with one sanctioning body or another, happy to work with other like minded people within the sport and I hope I have been able to make a positive contribution in that time. It's not been easy a lot of the time as I juggled that with the running of my gym and association, my promotions but also most importantly my family.

My Wendy and Chelsea have supported me in everything I have done and I cannot thank them enough but it's fair to say they have put up with a lot during that time as I spent many hours away from home.
Going to events is of course something all us coaches have to do as our fighters are competing on a regular basis but my time it's fair to say has been stretched even further as I've undertaken work on behalf of the IKF and others.

So it's time to step back just a little and from the end of the month I will no longer have a role in the management team of the IKF. I of course will continue to be as active as a coach as ever and I'm also very pleased to say my gym TKO Elite has never been busier. With our membership at the highest point it's ever been it will keep me extremely busy but for now I just don't have the time left to do anything else and want any spare time I have to be spent with my family.

I've been very grateful for the trust that was put in myself and Carl by Mr Fossum. I'm very proud of the work we have done. I honestly believe that very few sanctioning bodies have contributed as much as we have in trying to organise and administer the sport properly.

For us it was never going to be about being the 'busiest' association, we have set what we feel are realistic but firm guidelines for the sport as we believe it should be done. We have been very fortunate to be supported in that work by promoters of integrity and who have full belief in what we do. They have respected that we have never pulled back from trying to set the best standards for the sport even if sometimes it hurt us as other promoters decided to go elsewhere as we sometimes were 'just too much hard work'.

I always knew when answering the phone to promoters that if their first question was 'how much is it' that there was not much chance of them going with us as the cost was the first factor (though I must add that IKF costs are far from expensive).

Having a professional sanctioning service, with titles with integrity and firm guidelines was never what they wanted and that's fair enough however Carl and I decided from day one that we saw no point in duplicating what others were doing and that if, as has sadly happened since it seems in ever increasing numbers, people do not wish to have a clear and firm structure then they should be left to do what they felt was best for them.

The ever increasing numbers of 'sanctioning bodies' offering nothing but a cheap set of initials and no control (promoters picking their own officials, etc) may be what some want but we saw no need to join them.

I will remain an IKF promoter as I wish my own events to continue as they have always done. I will continue to be an official of the IKF and will undertake work for them as they wish. I will though be undertaking my last official management role later this month when I oversee the IKF England team as it travels to Italy for the unified World Championships and once that is over I will be ending my role as Co-Director.

I would like to thank Carl once again for his support in this decision and for working alongside me for all this time, its been a real pleasure. He has my full support and confidence that the IKF will continue to play a strong and valued role in the sport here.

Lastly and most importantly I would like to thank my wife Wendy and Chelsea for all their help and support. I could never had done the job without their backing, but now it's time to step back just a little and hopefully give us all a little more time together.

Steve Fossum / IKF: Thank you for all your work Colin Payne. We as the IKF were PROUD to have you as a part of the IKF Team, and remain so. The work that you and Carl Sams have done for the IKF has been nothing short of outstanding and even though your stepping down from the management side, you will ALWAYS be a Valuable part of the IKF along with the rest of the team you and Carl have created.

TIME is the most valuable of things and all of us here can only hope that you spend that TIME with your Family FIRST, and whatever time you have left, the rest of us are privileged to have you share with us...

You are a man of Integrity and Honor sir and I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say we are PROUD to call you our Friend...

"Part of the Problem or Part of the Solution."
By Steve Fossum

Ya know, for now, I won't point any fingers or say any names but in defense of all the fight sports out there, something just needs to be said so I'm just going to say it so I take the slaps instead of others I've spoken to about this very thing...

As many here might expect, in my job I've meet the majority of the "Who's Who" in the sports of Kickboxing, Muay Thai (Through our IKF), MMA (Through our ISCF) and even Boxing (Through our IAB). From the beginners about to do their first bout to the multi time World Champions to those who have become movie stars in the sport, I've meet them all. Basically, "If their someone, I've had the 'Privilege' of meeting them."

However, sometimes it's not always the expected privilege to meet some of these individuals... You see, there's a very small percentage of these individuals who think their the greatest individuals for our sports. Of this small percentage of these individuals, they think and feel this way because many of them have been given credit, fame and popularity by many of you only because of their relationship to a certain big promotion, or a famous fighter, or a perception you've been brought to believe by others talking about them or their own false hype...

In other words, you as participants of our sport have given these individuals false credit, pumping them up "ONLY" because of their relationship to "OTHER" people, and "NOT" for what "THEY" have done on their own to help build these fight sports, but for your desire to keep them as friends in hopes they can do something for you someday. Sound familiar? Of course it does, because we've ALL done this...

When I say "Have done on their own" I mean, "Went out on a limb, took a great financial risk to advance the sport we all love... I'm not talking about fighters, trainers, officials, sanctioning bodies, ring announcers, etc, I'm talking about those individuals who are "VERY FEW" within our sport or ANY sport for that matter... I'm talking about our event PROMOTERS...

Yes, we ALL make sacrifices. Yes, we ALL put everything we do into what we do, or at least I hope everyone does because I sure do. At my age and experience, I'm thankful I can step back and truly look at the whole big picture here. I'm grateful I can honestly and sincerely look at our fight sports from all the different views and be able to truly determine where our greatest value is. You see, to me, PROMOTERS are the most valuable part of our sport. If not for them, NONE of us would have the honored privilege of gathering together every weekend to share in the party we all call a "Fight Event". Promoters do all they can, where they can in hopes of becoming better and better with each event they do. Yes, we all do this, but for each step they make to become better, it usually means more money out of their pocket, taking a risk in hopes others will not only approve of the added improvements but also appreciate the effort and expense it took to make it happen.

I've been a promoter before, and every summer, I become one again in promoting the IKF World Classic. I know how much of a financial risk I take each and every year in hopes to make things better and better for everyone who attends. I know what it feel like to hear the good and more so, the negative comments of our efforts. I'm fully aware that for every 20 great comments it only takes one individual with something negative to say to erase all those good ones in an instant. With all that being said, I'm going to say this to save others from saying it... When ANY promoter from ANYWHERE around the world using ANY sanctioning organization to promote their events has to read on social media or hear verbally from others what a terrible job they've done on their event, it does NOTHING to help our sport. In fact, such comments are without a doubt the biggest things hurting our sport today...

I remember when the IKF was just starting out, our goal was to bring attention to those who were doing "Terrible" things to the sport, and you know what, I don't regret ANY of it. No, I'm not being a hypocrite, so let me explain why... We did so because we also offered advice as to how these individuals or organizations can correct the bad things they were doing or do better the things they were doing. In fact, it was these bad things others were doing or things that needing updating or improving that were the very core reasons we created the IKF in the first place. Sure, we reached out to the sanctioning bodies we were working with at the time with our new ideas as to help organize and build the sport. However, sadly, 100% of the time, these creative suggestions fell of deaf ears. No one wanted to hear any new ideas, better ideas, ways to improve certain things or more creative ideas because they always thought they were doing it the best way it could be done and the only right way it could be done, and it could never get any better. Heck, "Constructive Criticism" was never welcome with these other organizations we reached out to, which ultimately, was their downfall...

As many know today, "Constructive Criticism" has ALWAYS been welcome in all of our organizations. Sadly for them, when we created the IKF, we proved to them that things could indeed get better and they got better because we listened to people who wanted to HELP, and ignored the so called "Haters" who could only create negative things to say...

The IKF grew and grew and grew to eventually be the largest sanctioning body in North America and easily one of the top three worldwide in very little time. Every day we are all addressed with two kinds of people. Positive people and negative people. We all know how to react to the positive people as they help give us that much needed appreciation we all need to know our efforts and our is indeed, appreciated. However, every day we will also hear from those people who are either just negative people, or people with just negative things to say... Those who have something negative to say or complain about and nothing to offer to fix the issue are what I refer to as ANCHORS in our lives... The individuals who deflate our self esteem, cause us to doubt our efforts and ultimately hold us down from moving forward in our desire to do good things to improve things for others and our sport...

However, some of these negative talkers are actually good, as they're the ones who can not only offer up the much needed "Constructive Criticism" but follow it up with their sincere and passionate desire to share ideas in how to make the problem better, fix the problem or change gears into a new and creative way of doing something. Along with the promoters of our sport, THESE are the ones who are a great value to the growth of our sport. These are the ones who have honest, sincere and valid suggestions instead of just complaints on how to improve something for everyone.

As we all do, we've all read those negative posts on Facebook or some other form of social media from someone who's actually done NOTHING for our sport(s) but has been perceived as important simply because of his or her relationship to a certain big promotion, or a famous fighter, or a perception you've been brought to believe by others talking about them or their own false hype... Sadly, THIS is what we as humans do. People love to jump on that negative / hate bandwagon and tear into someone, especially event promoters...

They do so as if their only talking to those who think their of big importance in our sports when in reality, there are many others reading their posts and coming to a conclusion that this individual is not as outstanding as they thought they were...

So, next time you read some negative bashing about ANYONE, fighter, trainer, official, promoter, even a sanctioning body, investigate for a moment WHO the person "REALLY" is who's saying what they're saying. I assure you that EVERY person who "YOU" think is great in this sport, I and or others somewhere along the line have seen or been told of something terrible they've done or how little their actual "Sincere" contribution to the fight sport business has been. Again, some have become important to you because of what you "THINK" they've accomplished or because of what you "THINK" their relationship to a certain big promotion is, or a famous fighter, or simply the perception you've been brought to believe by others talking about them or their own false hype...

You'd be surprised how many people are a part of something big that makes them appear big and important, NOT because of their actual talent or ability, but because of a personal friendship with someone who actually plays an important role in what their a part of. Sadly I've seen first hand at what these individuals are NOT, and have been wise enough to see through the false perception of what others have come to believe about these people. They're simply NOT all you believe them to be...

That being said,
Always question the individual that has nothing but negative things to say about something or someone without also being the same individual who's hand is reaching out at the same time offering ways to help the very problem they're bashing. Look at the "PERSON" and ask yourself... "What has he/she done for the sport over the years? Have they contributed to the sport to help make it better on their own dime, or has their hand always been out trying to see what they can TAKE from the sport as they expect someone else's dime..."

To Sum Things Up...
In our lives, we've ALL been complainers who say negative or mean things about something or someone, me included. Just make sure the next time your about to say such a thing that your also the same individual who's hand is reaching out at the same time offering ways to help the very problem they're bashing.

In Closing...
Stop praising and or supporting the negative bashing comments of those you've been lead to believe have done great things for the fight sports... People like this are the VERY reason and the VERY people who've been killing and or holding our sports back for years... Claiming all their humility, humbleness, respect and honor belief crap when in fact, their all hot air TALK and it's filled with plenty of hate, jealousy and anger... Believe in those who've made great strides in growing our sport, great sacrifices in time and money, created opportunities for us all and are clearly recognized in doing so. Believe in those who've put their money, time and effort behind their mouth and for the greater good of the sport, Changed the sport for the better for us all...
